Representative Berrios Hosts Collaborative Fall Fest Community Resource Fair

CHICAGO, IL – State Representative Maria Antonia “Toni” Berrios (D-Chicago) in collaboration with the Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Schools, BUILD Inc., Casa Central, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago, Youth Guidance, and Alliance of Local Service Organizations (ALSO), are hosting their first Fall Fest: Community Resource Fair for the Logan Square and Humboldt Park communities on Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Haas Park, located at 2402 N. Washtenaw Ave., in Chicago, IL.
“The 39th District is blessed to have so many remarkable community organizations and I am delighted to be able to work with them to provide a valuable event for our community,” Representative Berrios said. “This event is open to the public and welcomes every age group, from children, to young adults to parents.”
The Community Resource Fair will offer blood pressure screenings, foreclosure assistance, employment training, energy saving tips, and college financial aid materials. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and receive information on after school programs, homeowner assistance, and violence prevention from local community organizations including Chicago Youth Centers –Centro Nuestro, Citizens Utility Board (CUB),NorthwestSideHousingCenterand Women in Partnership. Children and families will also be able to enjoy a petting zoo, arts and crafts, raffle prizes and giveaways.
“I know families can benefit from assistance in home ownership children’s programs and community safety, which is why I joined these organizations to provide our community such an event. I hope this event will become a tradition and continue on for years to come,” Representative Berrios added.
