Rep. Toni Berrios Hosts Responsible Pet Ownership Series

CHICAGO, IL –State Representative Maria A. “Toni” Berrios (D-Chicago) is hosting a series of events promoting responsible pet ownership for the community in the month of July. This pet series was created to make pet services more accessible to pets and their owners and raise awareness of the available resources in the area.
“This pet series is a great opportunity to inform the community of the small businesses in the area and highlight their services all while promoting the importance of responsible pet ownership to local residents,” Rep. Berrios said. “I am so grateful to have these local businesses so eager to partner with me and host these events. Its small businesses like these that make our community so friendly and unique.”
The first event of the pet series is a Dog Nail Trimming Service by Soggy Paws on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Soggy Paws, located at 2526 W. Armitage Ave., in Chicago, IL. As a proud supporter of animal rescue organizations, Soggy Paws will provide a dog nail trimming service for a $2 donation to “New Leash on Life,” an all volunteer rescue that takes their dogs from Chicago shelters to help Chicago’s over population problem.
The next pet series event is a Low Cost Vaccine Clinic by the City of Chicago; Animal Care and Control on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the parking lot of Logandale-Avondale School located at 3212 George St., in Chicago, IL. The entrance to the parking lot is accessible through Kedzie Ave. Services provided at this event include a DA2PPL and FVRCP vaccination for $7, rabies vaccinations for $15, micro-chipping for $15, dog registration for $5 for neutered dogs or $50 for un-neutered dogs. Making an appearance at the vaccine clinic will be “FIDO TO GO,”Chicago’s premier gourmet food truck serving hand-crafted canine cookies and doggy ice creams.
Please note the following rules are for all pets attending the clinic. This vaccine clinic is open only to city of Chicagoresidents. All pets over four months old must have a current rabies vaccination, please bring documents to prove updated vaccinations. All dogs intending to receive vaccinations must have a current dog license, otherwise will be subjected to purchase at the time of the clinic. Please bring pets on a leash or in a carrier and all pets requiring a muzzle must be muzzled at the event. Cash only, please bring exact change.
Rep. Berrios is ending the pet series with a Dog Training Class by AnimalSense on Monday, July 30, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kosciuszko Park located at 2732 N. Avers Ave., in Chicago, IL. AnimalSense conducts behavior classes designed to help pet owners cultivate and enrich the human-animal bond. This event will be an hour long dog training class for the first thirty dogs with their owners.
