Berrios Takes North Center for the Handicapped to Brookfield Zoo
November 19th, 2013
CHICAGO – State Rep. Maria Antonia “Toni” Berrios, D-Chicago, took students from the North Center for the Handicapped on a field trip to the Brookfield Zoo on last week, providing students with an opportunity to see and learn about different animal species while enjoying an afternoon at the zoo.
“This was the fifth year that I’ve been able to visit the zoo with North Center, thanks to the help of the Chicago Zoological Society and Chicago Mini Bus Travel,” Berrios added. “During these challenging economic times, local organizations are finding it difficult to maintain all their programs, and that is why I am focused on helping and supporting all the wonderful work that North Center does.”
North Center is an organization that also serves individuals who are severely disabled by providing flexibility and creativity in the programs they design for these children and adults. The Center assists individuals in developing their full potential regardless of the type or degree of their disability. They enable those who are disabled to maximize their physical, intellectual and social skills.
