Representative Berrios Recognizes Science Fair Participants Efforts At Brookfield Zoo

CHICAGO – Representative Maria A. Berrios served as an honorary judge at the annual Chicago Zoological Society / Chicago Public Schools Science Fair at Brookfield Zoo on February 25th, 2011. The Representative joined with Brookfield Zoo, Chicago Public Schools, community leaders, and elected officials to recognize the hard work and dedication of this years science fair participants.
This was the Representative’s first year serving as a judge. Representative Berrios said “This has been a wonderful experience. I am so proud of all of the young people who worked so hard to prepare their projects for this year’s fair.”
The annual Chicago Zoological Society/Chicago Public Schools Science Fair is designed to engage, excite, and empower students who are from communities typically underrepresented in the field of science.
“Education in the sciences is extremely important to the growth and sustained strength of our nation’s economy. I am convinced that programs like the annual Chicago Zoological Society/Chicago Public Schools Science Fair open our young people’s minds so they will consider careers in scientific fields,” said Representative Berrios.
